New high-temperature sensor family “HTS-NG” up to 800°C operating temperature introduced onto the market.

After a decade and a half, EngineSens Motorsensor GmbH is replacing the proven “HTS” exhaust gas temperature sensor family. The new generation of sensors with the product name “HTS-NG® (HighTemperatureSensor-NewGeneration)” is now sealed at the cable transition with epoxy resin to prevent moisture. Particularly when operating on stationary engines, the connection cable-sensor housing transition experiences higher vibration amplitudes than the sensor tip positioned in the exhaust gas flow. This requires a complete change of the sensor concept to a so-called “non-venting” design. With this concept, the sensor tip is hermetically sealed from the ambient air. In order to prevent sensor drift due to oxygen depletion of the Pt200 element used, the sensor tip is pre-oxidized before installation. This results in an application range of -40°C to 800°C. Short-term overshoots are tolerable. There are plans to expand the maximum exposition temperature for continuous use in the future. The sensor is already largely freely configurable. The immersion depth can vary from 30 to 70 mm (50 mm standard). Female union nuts M14x1.5 (standard) or male nuts are both available as fastening options. Imperial ¾” threads are also possible. The standard version is stretched, an angled version 0°-90° is possible. Areas of application include monitoring particulate filters, oxydation catalysts and SCR catalytic converters in exhaust gas purification systems. The first customer deliveries from German production have already taken place.
The company EngineSens Motorsensor GmbH, based in Viernheim in southern Hesse, manufactures temperature sensors for operating temperature ranges up to 1,100°C and sells exhaust gas sensors and analysis kits for catalytic converters and engines. Customer-specific sensors are manufactured and tested in-house in quantities ranging from one to several thousand pieces. We will be exhibiting at the “Sensor + Test 2024” trade fair in Nuremberg from June 11th to 13th, 2024 in Hall 1-472.
