New NDIR sensor for CO, CH4 and CO2 sets standards for lung function tests
Apr 30, 2025
We present our innovative NDIR sensor, which has been specially developed for direct use in lung function testing with the measuring gases carbon monoxide (CO), methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2). Thanks to the pulsed IR light source, the sensor achieves exceptionally short response times of ≤ 150 ms and therefore reliably fulfills all relevant international standard requirements.
In contrast to competitor products, our sensor does not have any moving parts, which significantly increases reliability and reduces maintenance costs. All three gases are measured simultaneously in a single optical bench, with cross-sensitivities being corrected immediately. This guarantees the highest precision and an exceptionally low detection limit, even with strongly fluctuating ambient temperatures.
Thanks to its compact design, low space requirement and power consumption of less than 3 watts, the sensor can be easily integrated into existing systems. Various interfaces such as CAN, RS232 and Modbus are available as standard and facilitate integration into existing measuring systems.
The new sensor thus sets new standards in medical gas analysis and offers a future-proof solution for reliable and precise lung function tests.
