A primary factor of concern in linear motion systems is the robustness of the cables that are connected to the moving element. The new cable free technology platform allows the readhead to be a passive device and could potential be simply autopclaved or act as a disposal element too. This means that, with this technology, moving cables are not necessary. An accuracy of 5µm and resolution of 1µm with a operating speed of 4m/s (free) and 10m/s (flex) the encoders can be used in high trhroughput applications.
