The pressure sensor manufacturer Analog Microelectronics GmbH expands its AMS 6832 board-mount pressure sensor series to a complete sensing platform with variants for differential, gage, absolute and barometric pressure for high-precision measurements from -1.25…1.25 mbar up to 0…2 bar. This makes the sensor series even more versatile. The applications for the highly precise, compact sensors reach from the medical, HVAC, aerospace technology up to industrial automation now.

In medical technology AMS 6832 support the operation of ventilators, CPAP devices, anesthesia machines and spirometers. In the HVAC sector they allow precise measurement of gas flow and low pressure, in industrial instrumentation they are used for level measurement and vacuum control. In the defense and aerospace industry, they are utilized for air speed and altitude measurements.

The AMS 6832 are based on high-quality piezoresistive silicon measurement cells which are mounted on a ceramic substrate along with a modern 24-bit mixed-mode ASIC. Through the extensive factory calibration, the AMS6832 reach an excellent accuracy (e.g. ±0.5 %FSO for the pressure range of 0…10 mbar) and a low total error band. They offer a high-resolution ratiometric 16-bit voltage output and a digital 24-bit I2C output, which can be used in parallel. The supply voltage is 5 V. On request, variants with 3.3 V supply voltage are available.

With their robust DIP-06 package the AMS 6832 address the demand for miniaturized, precise pressure sensors without compromising on performance, long-term stability or thermal behavior. Due to their membrane-based measurement principle they are completely gastight and offer high media compatibility including liquids and low corrosive gases with back-side pressure application.

To simplify first trials and evaluation measurements using AMS 6832, Analog Microelectronics offers a starter kit for the sensor. Alongside pressure and temperature measurements it also allows the visualization and logging of the measured data, the programming of an individual I2C address as well as the configuration of an oversampling mode for the sensor-internal calculation of floating average for noise reduction.
