Sensors for monitoring belt tension (ZugKraftSensor)
14.04.2025
A sensor for measuring the belt tension in transmission belts based on Si-DMS was developed for the precise planning of maintenance intervals, the early detection of material fatigue and the avoidance of unplanned downtimes (predictive maintenance). The sensor system utilizes silicon-based strain sensors and enables the integration of the sensor system into the transmission belt, thereby providing a direct mechanical connection between the sensor and the transmission belt.
The contacting and signal output are cable-connected and the system includes integrated mechanical protection of the sensors against external manipulation. Further advantages are the temperature range from -10°C to +80°C, the maximum force range up to approx. 40 kN (load capacity of the belts designed for up to 35.7 kN) and the high measuring span of the sensor signal of approx. 20 mV/V.
The measurement deviation is approx. 1-2% FS at T = 25°C and 2-5% FS at T = -10°C to +80°C. The preferred application is the linear actuator.
