Proven in practice - WME 980 CN as a digital version in addition to the weatherproof WME 980 microphone series

In today's age of high environmental and health awareness, accurate noise measurement of various types of noise pollution such as traffic noise, aircraft noise, construction noise, railroad and industrial noise and other sources of noise emissions is of crucial importance.
Microtech Gefell/ MTG traditionally offers a wide range of precision measurement microphones with weather protection for temporary and permanent installations.
The new WME 980 CN with digital amplifier is a top class weatherproof microphone unit.
In contrast to the WME 980 AM for aircraft noise measurements, it is designed for continuous sound measurements outdoors, e.g. for stationary or mobile monitoring of community or traffic noise.
In addition to noise measurements, the main areas of application are pass-by test benches for outdoor noise measurements in the automotive sector.
Pass-by measurements are becoming increasingly important, not only for the issuing of vehicle certifications by authorities, but also in the area of vehicle development and quality assurance in production.
The WME 980 CN with the MV 240 digital contributes to the optimization of pass-by measurements according to ISO and for simulated pass-by measurements for the purpose of noise reduction in motor vehicles as well as for type approval procedures or approval of new vehicle types (homologation) according to the ISO 362 procedure.
MTG offers both individual components and various turnkey solutions for exterior and interior noise test benches for pass-by PST according to ISO and for simulated pass-by measurements.
WME 980 CN with USB interface
The new development and successful market launch of a digital version of the WME 980 CN was based on important impulses from the field and enables an individual expansion of functionality and the range of applications, especially when measuring community or traffic noise.
The housing is made of stainless steel and is equipped with a bird spike, windscreen and rain shield. Inside the housing are easily exchangeable dehumidifier bags with silica gel and an easily exchangeable dehumidifier adapter with a humidity indicator window is part of the measurement microphone.
The weatherproof microphone unit has a pole adapter with a G 1.5“ thread for installation. A tripod adapter or G 1“ thread adapter can be screwed directly to the pole adapter.
The output connector is located well-protected at the lower end of the housing under the pole adapter. The weatherproof microphone unit can be calibrated with standard 1/2“ sound calibrators.
For remote calibration, a remotely switchable, built-in calibration generator feeds a 1 kHz calibration signal into the measurement microphone via an electrostatic actuator.
Inside the housing there are switches for the cable driver and the microphone heater, which prevents condensation under extreme climatic conditions.
The weatherproof microphone unit is suitable for sound level meters of Type 1 acc. IEC 61672.
