DAkkS NEWS 2025 - Calibration of the distortion factor as part of the calibration of
vibration calibrators

Test and calibration laboratories play an important role in various sectors of the economy. Test laboratories, for example, determine the display errors of instruments and measuring systems, while calibration laboratories determine the values of measurement samples. The aim is to ensure precise and reliable measurement results and their metrological traceability.

Microtech Gefell GmbH calibrates the physical quantities of sound pressure and acceleration in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 in its own laboratory and issues DAkkS or factory certificates according to customer requirements.

The accreditation for calibration in the free field for microphones and sound level meters was confirmed.

In 2024, the calibration of the distortion factor was added as part of the calibration of
Vibration calibrators in accordance with DIN ISO 16063-44:2019

The measurement standards for acceleration and reference acceleration sensors are traceable to DKD standards (German Calibration Service).

The accreditation of conformity assessment bodies (laboratories, inspection and certification bodies) is the legal mandate of the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS).
In the accreditation procedure, technical competence is constantly tested, confirmed and continuously monitored according to strict guidelines.

Accredited laboratories must introduce and maintain a documented, uninterrupted chain of calibrations in order to take measurement uncertainty into account and link the results to suitable references.
DAkkS accreditation certifies that the accredited bodies fulfill their tasks competently and in accordance with the applicable requirements.

Audits are carried out at fixed intervals to ensure proof of competence.

The new version of the globally valid new standard for the testing laboratory sector was developed by the responsible committee for conformity assessment (CASCO) at the international standards organization ISO
DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 defines the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. It also forms the basis for accreditation in this area.

Compliance with the standard makes it possible to determine laboratory results competently and ensure their international acceptance.

The result of a successful audit was the confirmation of the existing DAkkS accreditation
in an annex to the accreditation certificate D-K-19573-01-00 in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 for:

• Mechanical measurements - Acceleration
• Acoustic measurements
• Calibration in the free field for microphones and sound level meters
