Sensirion announces advanced air quality sensing solutions with new formaldehyde and CO2 sensors, as well as a new multi-parameter sensing platform

Sensirion, a market leader in environmental sensing technology, has launched three new sensors designed to enhance indoor air quality monitoring and meet diverse application needs.
Miniature CO2 sensor - STCC4
Leading the lineup is the STCC4 sensor - one of the world's smallest sensors for direct CO2 measurement, that unlocks vast new applications for monitoring CO2 previously limited by size and cost constraints. Utilizing the latest technological advancements in thermal conductivity sensing, the STCC4 provides the accuracy needed for indoor air quality applications at a low current consumption, thereby enabling battery-powered use cases. It is designed for seamless integration into compact electronic devices like smart thermostats and indoor air quality monitors. Launching in the second quarter of 2025, the STCC4 is a groundbreaking newcomer in the CO2 sensor market.
Next-generation formaldehyde sensor - SFA40
The SFA40 formaldehyde sensor is another game-changer. The compact and highly sensitive device represents a breakthrough in electrochemical sensing technology and is designed to detect formaldehyde at concentrations as low as tens of ppb. Thanks to its low cross-sensitivity the SFA40 ensures precise monitoring even in the presence of other volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This sensor, tailored for integration into air purifiers, air quality monitors and air conditioners, measures just 10 x 13 x 2.4 mm³ and is optimized for battery-powered devices. With production planned for early 2025, the SFA40 sets new standards for formaldehyde detection.
Multi-parameter sensing platform - SEN6x
The third addition, the SEN6x platform, integrates multiple sensors into a single, compact device capable of measuring up to nine air quality parameters, including PM1, PM2.5, PM4, PM10, RH, T, VOC Index, NOx Index and either CO2 or HCHO. With its modular design, the SEN6x reduces the need for complex sensor integration, thereby minimizing time-to-market and total cost of ownership. Compatible with various healthy building standards, the SEN6x simplifies compliance and accreditation, making it a versatile solution for various environmental monitoring needs.
