With the introduction of the second generation (SCH16T) of 6-DoF sensors in 2024, Murata has undergone a shift towards application orientation. The SCH16T-K01 has brought a significant price reduction compared to its predecessor SCHA63. The sensor focuses on higher accuracy with high stability over lifetime, low noise density, and lower ARW (angular random walk) of 0.015°/√Hz.
In the meantime, the series has been supplemented by the K10 sensor, which is designed for highly dynamic applications such as drones and applications with large angular changes. That's why the K10 focuses less on the temporal change of the zero point signal, but rather on a larger measuring range for the gyro (2000°/s) and the accelerometer with up to 26g, but under high linearity.
The K20 sensor has recently been added to this family. In this version, Murata has focused on a significant reduction in drift and the lowest possible noise behavior. A look at the parameters shows that the focus here is on the application, e.g. the stabilization of gimbals. The measuring range of the gyro is identical to the K01, but is reduced in maximum continuous acceleration. This gives you a saturation limit that is higher by a factor of 2.
With the announcement of a product of the SCH16T-K series, which will go into production in 2026, Murata is focusing on its use in the sector for construction machinery and industrial applications. In these applications, high dynamics and robust behavior in the face of vibrations are required. Compared to the K01, the new sensor gets an extended calibration in the factory. The measuring range for gyro and acceleration is increased and equipped with a saturation limit that is four times higher. Vibrations with high amplitude, which often occur in the range of 500 to 100Hz and may reach saturation, are largely dampened. The new sensor is better at dampening vibrations above 200Hz and is even higher in performance than the 3-axis accelerometer SCA3300
