FaradaIC® Sensors GmbH is demonstrating a mini module for breath monitoring based on MECS-Technology® (technology for micro-electro-chemical systems) at Sensor+Test 2024 in Hall 1 Stand 243. The Kit provides what is needed to monitor respiration rate, rhythm, regularity, and quality in a simple fashion. The tiny design delivers extremely fast measurement results, allowing several breaths per minute to be monitored.

The breath monitoring module contains tiny electrochemical sensors that are being produced using MEMS-compatible manufacturing processes for the first time. Dr. Ryan Guterman, founder of FaradaIC Sensors GmbH, has succeeded in developing a solid electrolyte that is incorporated into the chip, thus replacing the need for a liquid electrolyte. The subsequent electronics determine the exact measured values and provides a digital signal output. The module already contains the complete electronics with USB-C interface and the supplied software graphically displays the parameters. The solid electrolyte remains stable even during long periods of storage and does not dry out even at high temperatures of up to 85 degrees C.

FaradaIC® offers this 8x12x52 mm module as a development system for various applications in the field of breath monitoring. This Module based on MECS-Technology® (technology for micro-electrochemical systems) helps to develop new generations of medical devices, smart wearable devices, wearables and consumer devices such as VR glasses and headsets.

About FaradaIC® Sensors GmbH

FaradaIC® Sensors GmbH is a fabless semiconductor company and a chemical company in one. We miniaturize electrochemical gas sensors on microchips using standard microfabrication techniques. With our product, we offer device manufacturers in the IoT and consumer electronics sectors a unique multi-gas sensor platform that combines miniaturization, low power consumption and low cost. This makes it possible for the first time to offer gas sensor solutions capable of meeting the high-volume requirements of growing markets.

The company was founded in Germany in July 2021 by two chemists and an expert from the electronics/PCB industry. The company is headquartered in Berlin and operates a chemistry lab in Teltow, Brandenburg and an electrochemistry lab near Belgrade, Serbia.
