Signal converter: from ICP®/IEPE to 4 ... 20 mA
Jan 16, 2024
In process monitoring, it is often necessary to provide a continuous and assessable signal for recording and trending. Ideally, a 4 ... 20 mA signal is used for continuous 24/7 monitoring on critical machines; above all, this standard signal can be adapted to almost any PLC/PLT/SCADA system.
If acceleration sensors are already present, the ICP®/IEPE to 4 ... 20 mA transmitters of the 682 series from PCB Piezotronics enable the conversion of the raw vibration signal into a scaled current signal. The 682A14 and 682A15 models are a particularly cost-effective solution that is ideal for monitoring applications. Both units are designed for ICP®/IEPE accelerometers with a sensitivity of 100 mV/g. The model 682A14 outputs the peak value, the model 682A15 the rms value of the vibration velocity in the range 0 ... 25.4 mm/s at the current output.
