New miniature cryogenic ICP® accelerometer withstands temperatures down to -251 °C
PCB Piezotronics introduces the model 351A15, a new miniature cryogenic ICP® quartz accelerometer in shear design, making it the new flagship of the 351 series of cryogenic accelerometers.
Top features:
• Thermal stability down to -251 °C
• Wide frequency range from 0,35 Hz ... 20 kHz
• High resonance frequency of 40 kHz
• High amplitude range of 1.000 g
• Small size of approx. 19 x 7 mm and a weight of only 2 grams
The operating temperature of the sensor is -196 °C, but it can also be used at much lower temperatures of down to -251 °C. To withstand these low temperatures, the sensor has an appropriately specified internal amplifier (ICP®/IEPE). The sensors are hermetically sealed as standard and the individual temperature coefficient of sensitivity is determined at room temperature and -196 °C as part of the final inspection.
The 351A15 uniaxial accelerometer can be used in a variety of testing applications, mainly for validation tests of cryogenic gas storage tanks and distribution system pipes. In addition, the miniature accelerometer is suitable for tests on rocket engines (cryogenic pumps), fuel systems and industrial gas compressors as well as pumping systems for cryogenic gases.
