Fraunhofer-Institut für Silicatforschung ISC

Catalogue entry
The Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC in Würzburg develops individual material solutions for customer-specific applications with a view to the efficient use of resources and energy.
The Fraunhofer ISC’s Center for Smart Materials and Adaptive Systems CeSMA conducts research into intelligent materials for the realization of controllable systems and technological components. The focus here is on the development of smart elastomers for integrated sensor technology as well as comprehensive process technology know-how for the combination of electronics with textile/paper. Actuators, man-machine interfaces, controllable dampers, brakes, smart textiles, optoelectronic systems as well as display technologies and electronic components are also areas of CeSMA’s work.
At the fair, Fraunhofer ISC will be presenting prototypes of smart textiles, printed sensors on paper and nanostructured supraparticles that can be used as sensors to detect gases (e.g. hydrogen, ammonia, and carbon monoxide).
