A mobile CNC machine equipped with various microsensors is used as a demonstrator for predictive maintenance and condition monitoring. The demonstrator employs sensors that capture sound and acceleration data. Those are subjected to feature analysis and machine learning techniques to monitor machine conditions and to detect potential faults.
The demonstrator shows the technology developed in the project, which represents a toolbox for multi-sensor condition monitoring and can be used for retrofitting. It consists of a mobile CNC machine (in a housing), sensors attached to the spindle, and a computer to control the CNC machine and perform data analysis.
