AerOpak® MI Cable from Okazaki Manufacturing Company
AerOpak® is the trade mark for Okazaki metal sheathed ceramic insulated cable and thermocouples. The AerOpak® construction result in thermocouples wires that are surrounded by a compacted mineral insulation (MgO) and contained in a sheath, such as stainless steel or heat resisting steel.
On the basis of this AerOpak® construction, a wide variety of otherwise difficult applications are possible. Compared with general-purpose (Protection tube type) thermocouples, sheathed thermocouples have many advantages.
AerOpak® thermocouples have the following advantages over conventional protection tube or wire-insulator styles;
1. Widely applicable
Small diameter thermocouples are very useful for the place, where space is at premium. Okazaki MI cable can start from
0.15 mm. Furthermore the AerOpak® construction is resistant to high pressure and also used at wide range of temperatures from – 200℃ to +1050℃.
2. Quick responsetime
AerOpak® thermocouples have small heat capacity, due to the small sheath size. The small thermal mass, is highly sensitive to change in temperature and gives a very fast response.
3. Long life span
On the contrary to conventional thermocouples, which suffer from deterioration of electromotive force or wire disconnection, AerOpak® thermocouples wires are insulated with chemically stable magnesium oxide. Assuring a longer service life.
4. Excellent mechanical strength and pressure resistance
The composite construction is resistant to extremely high vibration levels. By choosing the appropriate sheath material, the AerOpak® cable is reliable to use in corrosive atmospheres and abnormally high or low temperatures.
5. Custom outer diameter possibilities
Outer diameter sizes between 0.15 mm and 19.7 mm can be provided. Standard Okazaki outer diameters are 1,00 mm, 1,50 mm, 2,00 mm, 3,00 mm, 4,50 mm, 6,00 mm, 8,00 mm, 9,50 mm and 12,70 mm for European standard.
For USA standard 1,60 mm, 3,20 mm, 4,80 mm and 6,40 mm.
6. Long length
Length are available up to a maximum of 400 m. Maximum length is dependent upon the outer diameter.
AerOpak® sheath can be welded, brazed and soldered without changing insulation resistance, using normal care of the metals and thickness involved.
8. Sheath anneal
The outer sheath will receive a full solution anneal, corresponding to type of sheath material.
9. Compatible with special needs
Okazaki has their own factory for making many kinds of metallic sheathed cables, therefore, as European partner we can meet to various needs from our customers.
